Health Centres
The main function of the DHS(MI) is to provide health care services through its various health institutions at various levels.
The State has a three tier health care delivery system in the rural areas. There is a Community Health Centre for a population of approximately 80,000, a Primary Health Centre for every 20,000 people and a Sub-Centre for every 3000 people. Normally, for every six Sub-Centres, there should be one Primary Health Centre and for every four Primary Health Centres, there should be one Community Health Centre.
