Goals of the National Population Policy (NPP)

The interventions mentioned are implemented with an objective to achieve the following major Goals of the NPP by the year 2012.

  1. Reduce IMR to below 30 per 1000 live births.
  2. Reduce MMR to below 100 per 1,00,000 live births.
  3. Achieve Universal Immunization of Children against all vaccine preventable diseases.
  4. Achieve 80% Institutional Deliveries and 100% Deliveries by trained health personels.
  5. Promote small family norm to achieve replacement level TFR.
  6. Promote delayed marriage for girls, not earlier than 18 and preferably after 20 years of age.
  7. Achive 100% Registration of Births and Deaths.
